Some similarities between the Smart Board and the chalk board are that they both have the same purpose meaning that they both allow the students to view the notes that the teacher has written. The main idea in which both of these things work is fairly similar besides the fact one’s newer technology. They both are similar in the way they mainly function, but are different in the way they can be used. Now you’re probably thinking that the only differences between the smart board and the chalk board are that the Smart Board is newer technology and it has more features. Well you’re right, the only difference is that the smart board has a lot more features meaning you can do a lot more things with it. So besides the fact that they are used for nearly the same thing they are also very different. The Smart Board requires no literal writing on it while the chalk board requires a teacher to have to stand right next to it and write on the board and then eventually will have to erase their work. The Smart Board has a simple one touch and done system where all you have to do is press the cute little trash can and your work disappears. The great thing about the smart board is that you don’t have to work about erasing all the work you’ve written down and you don’t have to worry about breathing in all that chalk.
